Ahmedabad’s Cafe Culture Is Changing
Ahmedabad’s cafe culture is evolving rapidly. From aesthetic coffee spots to work-friendly cafés, the city has seen a huge rise in spaces designed for young people and communities. But among hundreds of cafes, a new, upcoming concept is trying to create something deeper than just coffee and food.

What Is The Backyard, Ahmedabad?
Welcome to The Backyard: An upcoming experience-driven cafe space in Ahmedabad built around nature, creativity, sports, culture, and human connection.
Behind this vision is Yash Soni, the mind behind Graze Coffee. One of Ahmedabad’s well-known coffee brands that started its journey from Sindhu Bhavan and later expanded into larger speciality coffee spaces focused on brewing, extraction, and coffee experiences.
The Emotion Behind The Backyard
According to Yash Soni, this new project comes from a completely different emotion.
“People are always in a rush. They call us saying, ‘Mera coffee ready rakhna.’ They don’t have time to sit with their coffee or spend time with friends anymore.”
That realisation became the foundation of The Backyard.
Instead of building another fast-paced cafe, the team wanted to create a space where people could slow down, breathe, connect with nature, and simply exist without pressure.
A Cafe Designed Like A Second Home
The concept revolves around the feeling of a “second home”. Inspired by the nostalgic backyard spaces many people grew up with but slowly lost in today’s urban lifestyle.
“This can be your second home between nature and greenery, where community culture takes place.”

More Than Just Coffee & Food
Unlike traditional cafes focused only on food and aesthetics, The Backyard is being designed as a wholesome community-driven experience. Visitors will not just come here for coffee. They’ll come for conversations, creative gatherings, networking, wellness, sports, workshops, and peaceful outdoor moments.
The space will feature greenery-focused outdoor seating, calm work-friendly corners, artistic spaces, and even sports activities like pickleball integrated into the cafe experience.

A Space Where People Can Spend Their Entire Day
According to Yash, the idea is to let people plan their entire day around the space.
“You can come for early morning sports, sit with your laptop in a calm atmosphere, attend workshops, meet people, or just spend quality time.”
Building Ahmedabad’s Creative Community Culture
Alongside Yash is Kamna Vyas, who is shaping the creative and cultural identity of the space. From workshops and artistic collaborations to music nights and community gatherings, her focus is on building experiences that make people emotionally connect with the place.
Supporting the vision are entrepreneurs and investors Aarsh Thakkar and Ajay Rathod, who strongly believe in Gen Z culture, experience-driven businesses, and spaces that encourage creativity and real-world interaction.
Bringing People Back To Nature & Open Spaces
One of the strongest ideas discussed during the conversation was how today’s generation is constantly surrounded by screens and closed indoor environments. While many cafes today are designed mainly for Instagram aesthetics, The Backyard wants to bring people back to open spaces and real experiences.
“People are between four walls these days. They need huge open spaces, green grass, and nature. I strongly believe they are going to connect with this.”
Why The Backyard Feels Different
The founders also believe Ahmedabad is currently missing spaces where artists, creators, entrepreneurs, and communities can naturally come together. While workshops and events already happen in cafes across the city, The Backyard wants to make creativity a permanent part of the culture rather than just occasional weekend activities.

The cafe will also embrace Ahmedabad’s growing morning coffee culture and social lifestyle trends. With more people choosing cafes over office meeting rooms and socialising through experiences rather than traditional hangouts, the team sees The Backyard becoming a morning gathering and wellness-driven destination.
More Than A Cafe, It’s A Feeling
Fitness activities, cultural events, networking opportunities, and creative collaborations are all planned as part of the larger ecosystem.
But beyond all the activities, the founders want visitors to remember one simple feeling: comfort.
Just like certain coffee aromas instantly remind people of familiar places, The Backyard hopes to leave people with memories connected to calmness, nature, emotions, and togetherness.
According to the team, they are not just building another cafe in Ahmedabad.
They are building a feeling.
A place where conversations happen naturally, strangers become friends, creativity feels free, and every visit slowly turns into a memory.
