A train-themed multi-cuisine restaurant, On The Track, is literally located inside a railway station. A railway coach is refurbished to arrange seating space, along with an adjacent open seating area. What’s more interesting about this restaurant is that it is an initiative by the Ahmedabad Division of Western Railway to attract both railway passengers and the residents.
Fitting the city’s growing nightlife culture, the restaurant will also have a 24/7 takeaway counter. This is helpful, especially for travellers who are in a hurry. The project is being developed under a PPP (Public-Private Partnership) model by Western Railway.

The aviation-themed fine-dining restaurant on Thaltej-Shilaj Road is housed inside a real, repurposed A320 Airbus.
The cabin seating is configured to resemble a premium flight seating arrangement, and VFX are added to simulate window views of a flying aircraft. The restaurant also offers additional outdoor and rooftop seating options.
The Patang Hotel

Ahmedabad’s iconic landmark for decades, a structural masterpiece, the Patang Hotel was a first of its kind revolving restaurant. The Patang Hotel stands tall at 67 metres above the ground level, providing a 360-degree panoramic view of both the historic old walled city and the modern western suburbs of Ahmedabad.
The hotel’s structure was inspired by the traditional bird-feeding tower – regionally known as a ‘Chabutaro’. The restaurant was first launched in 1983, also marking the celebratory victory of the Indian cricket team in the World Cup. The hotel also went under a structural and interior redesign and reopened with a new name, Patang Re-Evolve.

Lucky Restaurant

One of its kind, Lucky Restaurant is probably the only restaurant in India to be located on a burial ground. Capitalising on the challenge he was presented with, the restaurant owner, Krishnan Kutti, chose to build his cafe surrounding the graves. Rather than paving over the graves or disinterring them, Krishnan chose to put steel bars around the graves, pay respect to the deceased and offer a unique dining experience.
The restaurant offers a very unpretentious and simple menu of South India, North India and fast food. The Lucky Special Tea and Maska Bun are fan-favourites among the natives

Favourite amongst the locals, Vishalla is a legendary village-themed heritage restaurant, established by the designer Surendra Patel. The restaurant offers an immersive cultural journey with authentic traditional Gujarati cuisine served in a rustic, open-air setting. The restaurant runs on the traditional ritual of Agraha, a traditional practice of urging guests to eat until they are absolutely full.
Replicating a native village compound, the restaurant has rustic seating under thatched-roof huts. The restaurant also features a world-renowned on-site display of an extraordinary collection of rare and ancient Indian utensils.
