Ahmedabad 2030: We’re Officially Hosting the Commonwealth Games
It’s not even a rumour. It’s true, and it has already happened. Ahmedabad had been proposed to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games at the Commonwealth Executive Board meeting held in October 2025, and the resolution was officially passed the following month at the general assembly in Glasgow, which was unanimously agreed upon by all 74 member states.

A Temple Circuit Is Finally Taking Shape East of the Sabarmati
This is another project that has been in the works for many years. For over a decade now, AMC has been working out ways to make use of the stretch between Saptarishi Ghat and Atal Ghat on the east side of the Sabarmati River and transform it into a true tourism and heritage circuit. The plans are finally about to bear fruit.
The Concept: The idea is to construct new temples, renovate existing temples along the way, and develop a temple complex which will link Saptarishi Ghat to Atal Ghat. It forms a part of the Sabarmati Riverfront narrative. In 2004, AMC formed the Sabarmati Riverfront Development Corporation, and the first phase of Sabarmati Riverfront (11 km stretch) was completed in 2011. Development of religious places on the riverfront has been talked about since then.
Ahmedabad Metro Is Heading Toward Dholera
The city’s metro map is about to get a lot bigger. Ahmedabad Metro’s proposed Phase 3 expansion has cleared the Public Investment Board, moving it a solid step closer to reality. The plan is a 60 km corridor with over 40 elevated stations, running from Thaltej Gam to Badrabad via Godhavi, Bopal and Shantipura, with Badrabad positioned as the future launch point for a direct link to Dholera International Airport and the Dholera Special Investment Region.
It still needs final Union Cabinet approval before construction starts, and it follows close on the heels of Phase 2A, which the Cabinet already cleared in June, adding five new stations, including a direct airport link.
